Lucy Junior

Lucy Junior is Maggie's alias? Alter ego? No one is really sure. I'm not clear where she came up with the name or the idea that someone might want to change their name, but off and on for the past 4 months or so, she has had days where she's insistent that she is "Lucy Junior". We don't know who Lucy Senior is, but we do know that Lucy Junior likes to have her hair a certain way. Two pigtails with half her hair towards the front of her head is probably the most popular look for Lucy. Lots of bows can also be a Lucy look. If she's feeling like Lucy on a certain day, you can be certain that she will correct you if you call her Maggie.
Malia and Maggie always have a great time at yoga. Going out to eat after is also super fun.

Here they are being gargoyles. Or are they grotesques?
The library is my favorite place. Did you know all the books are free?!?! Why does anyone buy books? The girls always love it and I never have to say, "no we can't get that".
I was super impressed that Molly had such a well formed concept of how checks are written. I'm pretty sure she's farther along than I was at 18 when I got my first checking account.
Maggie loves these shoes. When we got them, she was walking around the store sniffing them over and over. I kept scolding her for huffing her strange plastic shoes. Little did I know, they're scented like "strawberries". The clerk filled me in when we were checking out. Can we all agree it's gross?
Jonny the bartender. He had some drunk girl admirer this night. When she found out he was going to Mexico the following week, she said "Take me with you". For a sober guy, he's super popular with drunk girls. PS-the drunk girl was not Ramsey. Hahaha
Maggie the fashion designer. I have little trash bags in my car. One day while driving to get Molly fromschool, Maggie was furiously working in her car seat making holes in a bag. As soon as we get to school and she's out of her seat, she strips down to her pan pans (as she calls them) and throws this little number on. She wore it the whole way home.
Golfing with Bryn!
Faces painted, neon leotards on, and ready for yoga.
Happy birthday to Molly! The week before she had her classmates over to the beauty school for mani/pedis. They had a blast.

They also did some hairstyling! Looks like something Lucy Junior would approve of.
Molly has been taking tennis lessons with her friend Bryn. Maggie loves making tennis ball pyramids.
Best friend yoga burritos
Last day before she turned 7! Unfortunately she came in at 1:00am on her birthday and threw up all over my bed. That began our week of intestinal distress hell. Jonny was the only one who was spared.
One day when I was feeling bad, Maggie brought me a snack that she prepared all by herself. She even shelled peanuts by smashing them with a can.  What a sweetie.
We had some fancy spring pictures taken. The girls loved the bunnies Sam and Penelope.

Tick tick, little yoga clock!
This past Saturday the girls helped my mom, my sister and I clean and organize the paint store. It can feel like a losing battle there, but it helps to have some cheap child labor at your disposal. They had fun and have made plans to go back now that they're "hired".

The country club Easter egg hunt! Molly has dreamed of winning it practically her whole life. Holding hands for good luck before the signal.
Winner! Molly collected 92 eggs to win the 7 and under age group. As a 7 year old with a bag large enough to accommodate 90+ eggs-she was pretty much the apex predator of the hunt.

Happy Easter!

Molly's 1st piano recital!

I'll start here since I'm still so pleased with what a great job she did. Molly had her 1st piano recital last night, and she did great. Maybe I'm a weirdo, but I genuinely enjoy watching piano recitals, school band concerts, anything like that. I thought all the kids did a really good job. When talk of the recital started in October, she was not into it at all. Being a pain in the ass mother, I forced my will on her and before she could say "Therapy" a song was picked. For all of October and most of November, she insisted that she would never be able to do it. It would be impossible, she wasn't good enough, people will boo her. Somewhere towards the end of November, she was able to play the song and although still apprehensive, she softened a bit. I even was able to stop bribing and forcing her to practice. Last night after assuring her that if someone booed her all of the other parents and I would collectively kick their ass, she agreed to give it try. A nice new dress didn't hurt either. She had a couple tough moments, but she persevered and finished strong. I asked her if she was proud of herself and she said she really was and that she thought she did a good job. I'm glad I imposed my will on her.
I give you, We Three Kings! Ra

Jon Isaac and Molly with Mr. Millis. Jon Isaac did great too. Holly and I were so relieved they didn't start balling and quit.
Maggie was a supportive sister.
My Christmas room. This is about all I can manage as far as decorating goes, so it pretty much stops at this room.
We bought Dink a new bed and Maggie rode around Sam's club like this.
She looks so peaceful.
Nothing like a yoga play date with your friend!
Followed by a picnic!

Maggie loves dressing up at the Jordan's house. Holly thought she looked like a bar wench hahaha.
The kid's had a blast at Colbie's 5th birthday! This was their favorite activity: Playing with the drain pipe. They would push it up the hill, get inside and roll it down. Molly came home with some scratches, but I think it was worth it. I told Ramsey, "I know what the girls are going to ask for for Christmas!"
Malia had a face painter at her party.
Looking a little too pleased with herself if you ask me
Haircuts! They are always wanting to chop off their hair. There was no sense in fighting it. We're all very happy now.

I'll finish with some fancy pictures that we had taken in November. Andrea Hauck took them and they turned out great!

Fall!

It's mostly fallish now so we've been up to the things that you do in the fall.
Like comfortably walking to the park to meet friends. It was still kind of warm of course and Maggie did get cranky on the walk home (there is just so much damn sun everywhere!) but no one got heat stroke. It wasn't anything that stripping down naked once you cross the threshold couldn't fix.
Halloween baby yoga! As Maggie likes to call it. Ramsey and I took Jed and Maggie to PLAY. Maggie loved her mask.  Molly was jealous.
She also got some creepy assesories in a fun gift bag from there.
Tie-dye! Anything done outside feels like fall when you're in Yuma, so tie-dye counts. Jessica and Bryn brought over the supplies. In case you're shopping for tie dye supplies, you should know that "9 projects" = 3 kids doing the project themselves.

Dance birthday parties! Everyone we know was born from September  To December. It's definitely birthday party season!
School festivals! Of course we aren't even done with them yet. This was just the family night. The official Barn Bash is in 2 weeks. So many things to do!

Maggie is kind of a funny kid. I was buckling Molly up and she starts laughing. Look over and find her like this. "Buckle me!"
The other day I called her in to the bathroom to brush her teeth. I just casually (not even accusingly) asked her if she put the band aids on the faucet? She dead pans "I think it was always like that". No laughing, nothing.

Of course Halloween! Friday was the school parade. The girls were Odd Squad agents. I thought it was awesome!

Saturday we started out trick or treating at the downtown stores. We're pretty much obligated to do that since we are thoroughly downtown people.
Andrea Hauck has a new studio downtown and was taking pictures as a fundraiser for a family in town. They turned out so cute.

"Bitch Please"..is what an odd squad agent would say if the show wasn't on PBSkids. That's just Maggie's opinion.
Although she looked adorable, Maggie had a hard time with physically wearing the costume. Everything is "too tight" she never wore the shoes or the pants. She instead wore a pair of yo gabba gabba vans and Molly's giant jeggings.  By the time we headed out for trick or treating at night, she was over it and came up with her own costume. We think it's vaguely Madona inspired. She called it a "ballerina" costume.

We did our night time trick or treating with the Hermenaus at a neighborhood near their house. The girls had a blast and now have entirely too much candy. They're seriously acting like addicts "when can I have another peice?"
"What do I have to do?"
"You promised!" (I didn't)
Can't wait until it's gone!

Molly was in the Holiday spirit so she drew this cool picture of Jack Skellington.
